The World is a Corrupt Place (but you already knew that).

Here's the skinny fellows. We ran into a bit of a corrupt world on the server and I wanted to get some input from you guys as to what to do next. As of right now, the world remains intact with only a few chunks corrupted. I'd like you to take a little bit of time and wander around to take in the slightly modified world. Just let me know what would like to have happen in the world.

  1. My opinion: Wipe + Keep Inventory.

Technical Reasons: The server was generated before the biome update, so there are no biomes directly around the spawn point. Also early server maintenance mishaps caused a lot of weird chunk behavior (head east of the spawn for some bizarre square chunk lakes) that could be corrected with a map reset. Keeping the inventory will allow everyone a day to gather up all the stuff they care about (Minecart tracks, diamond, iron, gold, tools, etc) that they can fit, and will still keep their time on the original map valuable.

Narrative Reasons: I like the idea of a Great Reckoning which brings down great & vile chunk-meteors down, marring the landscape and destroying homes. Seeing the end in sight, the people of the world open a portal to a new universe, bringing with them only what they can carry to escape the Apocalypse. It would be cool to do a quick server event before the map reset and hand out stacks of Nether materials which are otherwise unobtainable on SMP servers; in that way only the people who have been on the server prior to the reset would have these materials.

    Anyway, just my two cents.
